Welcome to Shar Pei Savers!

OUR MISSION | As a Shar Pei rescue, care, and placement organization, we are dedicated and devoted to our cause and mission to rescue, place, and provide care for shar pei’s of all ages and from all different backgrounds.

Shar Pei Savers is an all-volunteer, non-profit group whose purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abused, abandoned, neglected and unwanted Shar Pei’s in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin & Illinois. We provide foster care, veterinary care and rehabilitation when needed and place them with loving, forever families.

The Chinese Shar-Pei, an ancient and unique breed, is thought to have originated in the area around the small village of Tai Li in Kwangtung Province, and has existed for centuries in the southern provinces of China, apparently since the Han Dynasty (c. 200 B.C.). More recently, a Chinese manuscript of the 13th century has been translated; it refers to a wrinkled dog with characteristics much like those of the Shar-Pei. [read more]
