Introducing Kelly

Hi, I’m Kelly. I’m new to rescue so please check back for updates, but for now I’d like to share my story before I made it to the safety of rescue. I’m 8 years old and unfortunately the first 8 years of my life were not filled with happiness. I was the victim of a “hoarder” and lived in bad conditions along with 24 other dogs inside a house!  In that house, none of us received the attention we needed or deserved so I don’t know much about life at all – riding in a car, being on a leash, a kind word, a gentle touch – they are all new and somewhat frightening to me right now. Our living conditions were finally discovered and we were all taken away and placed in a shelter. Because I am so very shy I was the VERY LAST of the 25 dogs to make it out of the pound and into rescue. I was definitely on borrowed time. The nice man who came to see me for SPS saw that even though I am very shy, I am not at all aggressive and he felt I deserved a chance. Boy am I glad he decided that! I am in foster care now with someone who has worked miracles with shy dogs before. I hoping for two miracles of my own – first that I will learn to overcome my shyness and be at peace in the world, and two that somebody will read my story and decide to give me what I need most…a REAL forever home! I know I’m not young and I’ll admit I’m not a flashy show quality looking pei, but hey…what’s inside matters too doesn’t it? I have a heart of gold just waiting for a chance to find a real home…better late than never right? If you cannot adopt me would you please become my guardian angel? My vet bills will likely be a bit higher than average due to my age and former neglect and every penny helps! thanks!
